In order to register to the entrance test, non-EU citizens should contact the Italian Embassy/Consulate in their own country of residence by a deadline that is set annually by the Italian Ministry of Education (Ministero dell'Istruzione dell'Università e della Ricerca - MIUR).
Please visit the website www.miur.it for deadlines and requirements.
Necessary documents:
If the students have been studying for some years in another foreign institution and would like to have their previous academic career recognized, they can ask for the validation of the examinations taken. In this case the students have to produce to the Politecnico di Milano their academic records certification and the detailed study programs (course description) with the translation and the validation of the Italian Embassy or Consulate (in case transcripts and course descriptions are available in English, they don’t need a further translation, but they must be duly confirmed by the Italian Embassy/Consulate above mentioned). A commission of the study course the students are applying to will evaluate the recognition of their previous academic career after the enrolment.
-> Attention: in case of missing documentation, in accordance with the existing rules, Politecnico di Milano will revoke the enrolment to our institution even if the candidate has passed the admission test.
Apply for Visa
It is necessary to contact the Italian Diplomatic Representative in the country of residence and submit the request (MODELLO A) in order to obtain the student visa and participate in the entrance test.
The deadline for completing the necessary procedures is set individually by every single Embassy/Consulate, so you are advised to contact the closest one as soon as possible in order to verify it.
By the end of August the Embassy/Consulate offices will issue an entrance visa for study purposes (Visa type "D") to all those who have been admitted to the entrance test. If your visa is valid for up to 90 days, you can apply to a residence permit within 8 working days after the date of expiry of your visa. If your visa is valid for more than 90 days, you should apply to a residence permit within 8 working days after your arrival in Italy.
