ISEEU certificate

Please notice: Master of Science non-EU students who are NOT awarded scholarships enrolled in the academic year 2012/2013 are not required to present the ISEEU declaration. The tuition fees are fixed on the maximum contribution range (contribution level: 10). The ISEEU declaration attesting a lower income level will not be considered.

The ISEEU (Indicatore della Situazione Economica Equivalente Università) divides the fees amount in 10 different ranges. ISEEU is a tool to estimate the economic situation of families in Italy. It is an indicator taking into account income, properties (immovable or movable) and the characteristic of the family (number of members and typology).

The ISEEU is a certification necessary to define the amount of the 2nd instalment, and it is released only by a CAAF (Centro Autorizzato Assistenza Fiscale). The CAAF will calculate and release the ISEEU on request of each student. Failing to provide the ISEEU on time entails a default interest of €100.

Deadline to provide the ISEEU certificate: 10th of December 2012.

Maximum family income range (10) will be assigned to all students who will not provide a ISEEU certification within the deadline for the 2nd instalment. Foreign students will be able to acquire the ISEE certification only if they will have a fiscal code. It is necessary to ask for the assignment of the fiscal code at the Agenzia delle Entrate www.agenziaentrate.it (Italian version) bringing passport, entry visa, or residence permit.

Documents necessary to calculate the ISEEU

For students depending economically on their family, the ISEEU declaration is the outcome of the following documents:

  • a document stating the composition of the family (i.e. all the family members that are not economically independent or live in the same house)
  • income tax return for the year 2011 of each family member who has an income (converted into Euro). Please be advised that documents issued by a worker's employer WILL NOT BE accepted; the official income tax return must be issued by the official government revenue agency of the student’s country of residence
  • properties owned by the family in square meters at 31st December 2011. In case of a mortgage on the house (or other property), the student should provide a copy of the mortgage statement indicating the remaining amount to be paid to the financial institution that provided the loan. If the family rents a house, the student should provide us with a copy of the current rental agreement indicating how much is paid monthly
  • personal estate of the family owned at 31st December 2011 (assets, dividends, etc). Please note that the student has to submit also the settlement of the bank account at 31st December 2011.
  • documentation related to any properties/income the student or the student's family might have in Italy.

For students economically independent from their family, the ISEEU should be exclusively referred to their economic situation, without considering the income and the properties of the family. In particular, you will be consider "independent" if:

  • you have a different residence from the one of the family since at least two years
  • you do not live in a house belonging to a member of the family
  • you have a personal income deriving from self employment/employed work since at least two years. The student's annual income must not be lower than €7.392

All documents must be translated into Italian by a recognized translator and legalized by an Italian Diplomatic Representation in your country (or your country's Embassy or Consulate in Italy). CAAF will only accept original documents.
