Following a ceremony held in Shanghai on 16th of September 2006, with the participation of the Italian former Prime Minister, Romano Prodi, and the Mayor of Milan, Letizia Moratti, the first Sino-Italian University which will enable both Chinese and Italian students to obtain a degree recognized in both countries, was inaugurated.
The Politecnico di Milano and the Politecnico di Torino, for the Italian part, in collaboration with the Tongji University of Shanghai, for the Chinese part, have instituted joint first level Degree programmes (B.Sc.) in the fields of Information Technology Engineering and Mechanical and Production Engineering .
A group of Italian students interested in the double degree programme will be selected in the academic year 2010-2011, for the fourth time.

Who can participate
The double degree programme in Information, Mechanical and Production Engineering fields is open to those students already enrolled in the first Bachelor of Science academic year in one of the following programmes: Management Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Energy Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Engineering of Computing Systems, and Telecommunications Engineering.
Scholarships
Scholarships, worth 3000 covering both travel and accommodation costs, are given to Politong participants.
Chinese language courses
Politecnico di Milano offers a Chinese language course to those students who are interested in participating in the programme. The course is held in Milan and its aim is to make easier students staying in China.
