Students with a previous university career

If you are already graduated and you want to take a second Laurea (equivalent to Bachelor of Science) or if you have studied in a foreign University and you want a recognition of your previous exams, you can ask for an evaluation of your university career.

Please bear in mind that in order to obtain a degree at Politecnico di Milano, it is compulsory for you to achieve at least 60 ECTS credits at Politecnico di Milano (in addition to thesis and internship credits where foreseen).

Enrolment through the evaluation of previous career (only for European citizens and equivalent)

Engineering

If you are a European citizen, a non EU regularly residing in Italy, an Italian citizen with foreign academic qualification or a non EU citizen holding a certificate of Italian language knowledge of at least C1 level, you’ll be allowed to enroll without taking the entrance test if:

You have been recognized at least 35 credits from the evaluation of your previous career, and you confirm the outcome of the evaluation.

Please verify and prepare all documents necessary for enrolment.

The deadlines for enrolment through the evaluation of the previous career are as follows:

  • First advance phase: from 12th July at 10.30 am to 20th July at 12.00 pm
  • Second September phase: from 4th September at 10.30 am to 7th September at 12.00 pm
  • Third September phase: from 13th September at 10.30 am to 15th September at 12.00 pm

However, if you are unsure about the amount of credits that will be recognized and/or you have not received a reply to your evaluation request before September, it might be better to take the entrance test in any case to ensure the possibility to enroll.

If you enroll after successfully passing the entrance test, please bear in mind that the evaluation of your previous career, including asking for it not be evaluated or rejecting/confirming the result, must in any case be completed before classes start.

Design

If you are a European citizen, a non EU regularly residing in Italy, an Italian citizen with foreign academic qualification or a non EU citizen holding a certificate of Italian language knowledge of at least C1 level you can ask to be considered for a merit based ranking and you may avoid taking the entrance test:

If you’ve been recognized at least 30 credits and you confirm the outcome of the evaluation.

Places available for the merit based ranking are limited: to be considered for this ranking you have to write to the Dicos Office from 3rd July to 28th July 2017 through the "Ask for assistance" button on http://www.design.polimi.it/en/ .

The merit based ranking will be published on the website of the School of Design on 23rd August 2017.

If you don’t receive the outcome of the evaluation of the previous career by beginning of September, we suggest you to take the entrance test.

The admission interview for Urban Planning is mandatory regardless the outcome of the evaluation.

Architecture and Building Engineering/Architecture (5 years programme)

Non EU citizens residing abroad

In order to be admitted, you have to follow the procedures for non-EU citizens residing abroad.
